From bright and citrus-forward to slow and warming — three ways with the rum on the shelf, including one built specially around Don Papa.

Daiquiri

Rum, lime, sugar — the original three-ingredient classic, done right.

From the shelf: Bacardi Carta Blanca

Ingredients
  • 2oz white rum
  • 1oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾oz simple syrup
Method
  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake hard for 10–15 seconds.
  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.

Mojito

Mint, lime and soda — built for a warm evening on the patio.

From the shelf: Bacardi Carta Blanca

Ingredients
  • 2oz white rum
  • ¾oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 tsp sugar (or ½oz simple syrup)
  • 8–10 fresh mint leaves
  • Soda water, to top
Method
  1. Gently muddle the mint with the sugar and lime juice in a highball glass.
  2. Fill the glass with crushed or cubed ice.
  3. Add the rum and stir.
  4. Top with soda water and stir once more.

Don Papa Old Fashioned

The classic build, swapped onto Don Papa's vanilla and caramel notes.

From the shelf: Don Papa Rum

Ingredients
  • 2oz Don Papa Rum
  • 1 tsp simple syrup (or maple syrup)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Orange twist, to garnish
Method
  1. Add the syrup and bitters to a rocks glass with a splash of water.
  2. Add the Don Papa and a large ice cube.
  3. Stir for 20–30 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Express an orange twist over the top and drop it in.
